Activate your UAN

  1. 1On the EPFO member portal, choose Activate UAN.
  2. 2Enter your UAN, Aadhaar, name, date of birth and the mobile number linked to Aadhaar.
  3. 3Verify with the OTP. Your password is sent to your mobile — change it after first login.

Add KYC: Aadhaar, PAN and bank

Under Manage, KYC, add your bank account (with IFSC) and PAN. Bank details are verified by the bank and the employer; PAN is verified against Income Tax records. Wait until each shows as verified before filing a claim.

Correct name, date of birth or other details

Minor details can be updated online. Changes to name, date of birth, gender, father's or mother's name, or dates of joining and leaving go through a correction request (joint declaration) with supporting documents such as Aadhaar, a birth certificate or your 10th marks memo. Your employer approves it and the PF office updates the record.

Frequently asked

How long does a name or DOB correction take?
A few days to a few weeks, depending on how quickly the employer approves and the PF office processes it.
My name in PF does not match Aadhaar. Will my claim fail?
Very likely. Fix the mismatch first, then file the claim.
Can someone do this for me?
EPFO does not charge for any claim, and every step below can be done by you on the EPFO member portal or the UMANG app. If a claim keeps getting rejected or you would rather not spend the time, FileSaathi can do it for a fixed fee — never a percentage of your PF.
