What this covers
Every shop, office, hotel, restaurant and commercial establishment has to register under its state's Shops and Establishment Act, usually within 30 days of starting operations. The certificate governs working hours, weekly offs, leave, overtime and employment of women and young persons.
It is also the document banks ask for when opening a current account for a proprietorship, and the one PF, ESI and GST officers ask for as proof of the premises.
