What this covers

ESI contributions are filed monthly on the ESIC portal and paid by the 15th. Contribution periods run April–September and October–March, and the return for each period has to tie back to the monthly filings.

The recurring problems are predictable: an employee crossing the wage limit mid-period, an insurance number never generated for a new joiner, wrong number of days for someone on leave without pay, or an exit that was never marked.

We prepare the monthly contribution file from your salary register, reconcile it, generate the challan, file it and keep the half-yearly position clean so nothing surfaces at inspection time.

How we handle it

Monthly filing on a fixed cycle

Register in by an agreed date, challan out well before the 15th. We chase inputs; you approve numbers.

Wage-limit tracking

Employees crossing ₹21,000 are carried correctly to the end of the contribution period instead of being dropped mid-way.

New joiners enrolled

Insurance numbers generated and family details captured in the same month the employee joins.

Half-yearly return closed properly

Each contribution period is reconciled with the monthly challans so the return matches your books.

Inspection-ready records

Wage registers, challans and returns are kept in one place, in the format an ESI inspector asks for.

Frequently asked

When is the ESI contribution due?
By the 15th of the month following the wage month, through a challan generated on the ESIC portal.
Is a separate half-yearly return still filed?
The monthly contribution filings roll up into each contribution period — April to September and October to March. We reconcile and close each period so the position on record matches your payroll.
What happens if we pay late?
Interest at 12% per annum for the delay, damages depending on how long it runs, and — more painfully — an employee's benefit claim can be denied for a period where contributions were not paid.
Do we file if no employee is under the wage limit this month?
Yes, a nil contribution is filed. Skipping it flags the establishment as a defaulter and invites a notice.
An employee's insurance number was never generated. Can we fix it now?
Yes, with backdated enrolment and arrear contributions for the covered months. We compute the arrears with interest so you can settle it in one go.
